The Armenian prime minister announced the imminent start of construction of the Zangezur Corridor, known as “Trump’s Route for International Peace and Prosperity.”

Nikol Pashinyan, on Saturday, on the first anniversary of his trilateral meeting in Washington with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and U.S. President Donald Trump—which led to an agreement to build the Zangezur Corridor with the participation of American companies—said that soon, with the construction of this corridor, not only will Armenia come out of economic isolation (Turkey and Azerbaijan), but it will also become one of the region’s important economic players.

Azerbaijan’s customs statistics show that for the first time in more than three decades, trade relations with Armenia have been established, and in the first half of this year, about $17 million worth of trade between the two countries was carried out, the vast majority of which is Azerbaijan’s exports to Armenia.

The Zangezur Corridor is being developed with the aim of connecting the Republic of Azerbaijan from Armenian territory to Nakhchivan, and, on the other hand, this route will be part of the East–West Corridor (China–Europe), which will transit 15 million tons of goods annually.
