👈According to reports by The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration has backed Viktor Orbán, the former prime minister of Hungary, for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, and believes that Russia and China support his candidacy.

U.S. officials consider Orbán as a joint candidate backed by Washington, Moscow, and Beijing, and estimate that he could secure at least 8 votes in the United Nations Security Council (which has 15 members), with another 10 votes also appearing to be available.

Orbán is said to be interested but, without certainty of victory, he is not inclined to enter the race. It is expected that President Trump and Vice President JD Vance will support his candidacy, and a statement will likely be issued after the U.S. midterm elections.

One of the U.S. State Department officials described Orbán as an ideal candidate for the conservative MAGA movement.
