🔸اصاله نصری, the well-known Syrian singer, returned to Syria after 15 years away from her country because of her opposition to the government of Bashar al-Assad, by holding a concert in Damascus.
🔸Thousands of people took part in the concert of the 57-year-old singer on Thursday evening, 26 Shahrivar.
🔸At the start of the concert—whose tickets had been completely sold out and which was held with strict security measures—اصاله told the audience that even as of that moment she still couldn’t believe she would be among the Syrian people again.
🔸She was among the first artists who, in 2011, supported the peaceful protests against Bashar al-Assad and refused to participate in programs backed by the government. Following that stance, she was expelled from the Syrian Artists’ Union and, afterward, went with her family to Cairo.
🔸During the Syrian civil war, the Islamic Republic of Iran was one of the most important supporters of the government of Bashar al-Assad and, along with forces affiliated with it, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, provided military and political support for Damascus.
