A representative of Turkish Airlines told Iran International that the company has suspended all of its flights to Iran at least until March 2027.

He added: “There is no guarantee that flights will resume after March 2027 as well.”

The long-term suspension of Turkish airlines’ operations will further reduce international travel options for Iranians, who are already facing increasingly restrictive limits in air travel connectivity.

The suspension is being carried out as Washington increases pressure on Iran’s aviation sector and targets Iranian airlines and foreign companies accused of supporting their activities.

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, said on Monday that Iranian airlines will effectively be out of international operations starting September 23. He warned that airports and companies that provide services to the sanctioned Iranian airlines may also face U.S. penalties.
