Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, said lasting security in the region is not created through a recurring cycle of intensifying tensions and retaliatory measures, and that regional countries need a framework in which their sovereignty is respected.

He said at the opening ceremony of the Qatar Economic Forum: “Our region needs a framework in which the sovereignty of countries is respected and no country creates a threat against another.”

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also, referring to the link between security and the economy, said: “For the Qatari government, diplomacy and economic stability are closely intertwined.”

Qatar’s foreign ministry published the remarks made by the country’s prime minister and minister of foreign affairs.
