South Korean media reported that North Korea, in its embassy basement in Beijing, has created a secret detention facility for nationals suspected of trying to flee.

A human rights organization based in Seoul, citing several sources including a former Pyongyang diplomat, said that individuals are held and interrogated at the site without following official legal procedures before being returned to North Korea.
