🔸 Iran says it has received a response from the United States to a proposal to end the war

Fatemeh Mogharrani, the spokesperson for the Iranian government, said on Wednesday, 8 Mehr (September 30) that Iran has received the official response from the United States to Tehran’s latest proposal to end the seven-month war, but details of this response—and whether Washington has rejected Iran’s proposal—are not yet clear.

The spokesperson told IRNA that Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, presented the U.S. response to Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, in a meeting of the cabinet.

In that meeting, Pezeshkian said that any agreement must be based on a “win-win” approach, adding: “We will do everything we can to reach an agreement and will firmly defend the rights of the Iranian people.”

This development came after Araqchi’s return from New York, where, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States were under way, and Iranian officials also spoke with Qatari and Pakistani mediators.

Donald Trump had publicly rejected Iran’s proposal a few days earlier. However, Tehran and Washington continue exchanging messages through intermediaries.
