🔻Iran’s Foreign Ministry: The Oman meeting was postponed “at the request of some countries in the region”
After the Foreign Minister of Oman announced the postponement of the meeting between Iran and regional countries scheduled for Monday, an official at Iran’s Foreign Ministry described the postponement of this meeting as a joint decision by Iran and Oman, saying it was made “at the request of some countries in the region.”
According to IRNA, citing Mohammad-Ali Bak, director-general for the Persian Gulf at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, “at the request of some countries in the region and by the joint decision of Oman and Iran, the meeting of foreign ministers of the Gulf coastal states that had been planned for Monday was deferred to another date.”
Mr. Bak told IRNA that Iran “will carry out the necessary coordination in close consultations with Oman regarding the appropriate time for holding this meeting.”
He did not say which country’s request led to the postponement of this meeting.
Previously, Bahrain had announced that it would not participate in any meeting in which Iran was present.
