🔻Oman postponed Monday’s meeting between Iran and regional countries

Badar Bu Sa’idi, Oman’s foreign minister, announced that the meeting between Iran and the Gulf and regional countries has been postponed. The meeting was due to be held tomorrow, Monday, in Salalah, Oman.

In a post on the X network, Bu Sa’idi wrote: “With the aim of reaching consensus, the regional meeting that was scheduled to be held tomorrow in Salalah has been postponed.”

He emphasized that Oman remains committed to strengthening dialogues that “help contribute to stability and lasting cooperation in the region.”

Along with his message on the X network, Oman’s foreign minister used an image of the flags of Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier, Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, had said that he would participate tomorrow, Monday, in the meeting of the foreign ministers of Gulf coastal states and the Sea of Oman. The eight-party meeting was set to be held in Salalah, Oman.

Ishmail Baqai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had previously said: “Regarding the outcomes of Iran and Oman’s negotiations, discussions and exchanges will be held on determining safe routes for commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s foreign ministry had announced that it would not participate in any meeting in which Iran is present. According to reports, the UAE’s foreign minister also said that he would not participate and that a lower-ranking official from that country would likely go to Oman.
