Mohammad Qaeedi, a lecturer in International Relations at George Washington University, said that the United States has adopted a strategy of saving and prioritizing resources in order to simultaneously manage tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, and for this reason it avoids direct entry into war with the Houthis.

He added that Riyadh wants three guarantees from Washington: intelligence warnings, participation in attacks on Houthi positions, and a clear commitment to defend Saudi Arabia’s critical infrastructure; however, according to him, the Donald Trump administration has so far not been willing to provide such guarantees.
