Badr Al-Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, announced that the meeting between Iran and Gulf and regional countries has been postponed. The meeting was supposed to be held on Monday, 23 Shahrivar, in Salalah, Oman.

A senior official at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also described the postponement of the meeting as a “joint decision” by Iran and Oman, and said it was made at the request of some countries in the region.

In a post on X, Al-Busaidi wrote: “In order to reach consensus, the regional meeting that was due to be held tomorrow in Salalah has been postponed.”

Along with his message, he used an image of the flags of Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier, Abbas Araqchi had said that on Monday he would take part in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the coastal Gulf countries and the Sea of Oman.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced that it would not take part in any meeting in which Iran is present, and according to reports, the UAE’s foreign minister had also said that he would not participate and that a lower-ranking official would likely attend.
