Amir Giti, a member of Iran International’s editorial team, said the Oman meeting was postponed at Saudi Arabia’s request and after attacks on this country’s energy infrastructure. He added that Riyadh is concerned that the Oman and Islamic Republic proposal would stabilize the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He also, referring to the remarks by the U.S. energy minister, said that any agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz without U.S. approval would be lacking in practical validity, and the United States continues to be considered the decisive actor in any potential agreement about this waterway.
