🔸 The Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Ahar County in East Azerbaijan Province announced the opening of a case against those responsible for cutting down an 800-year-old plane tree in the village of Zegelik.

🔸 According to ILNA news agency, on Sunday, Mehr 26, Ali Fazli, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Ahar County, said that the historic plane tree in the village of Zegelik was cut down with the aim of selling it and covering the costs of building a sanitary facility in the village.

🔸 According to Mr. Fazli, the action was carried out in coordination with the Ferdqalu District Office in Ahar County, and the loader that carried out the cutting of the tree has been seized and is being held in a parking lot.

🔸 As announced by the Ahar prosecutor, part of the cut trunk of the Zegelik plane tree was seized by the Law Enforcement Force in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Protection unit.
