🔻The latest figures from Israel’s Central Elections Committee show that, with more than half of the votes counted, a tight race between Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot is still ongoing.
Israel’s news networks “Kan,” “Channel 12,” and “Channel 13,” in their latest projections, have predicted that Netanyahu will win 55 seats and Eisenkot 49 seats.
To form a majority government, the election winner needs at least 61 seats in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. These results are not final and may change. Voter turnout for Tuesday’s election was the highest level in several decades.
According to Israel’s Central Elections Committee, at the end of voting at 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT), the turnout rate reached 77.7%, the highest figure at that hour since 1999.
