🔶 What happened during Netanyahu’s fateful meeting with Trump at the White House?
In a report that Axios has published about the recent meeting between Netanyahu and Trump, some of the behind-the-scenes remarks between Israeli and U.S. leaders have been revealed, cited from a senior Israeli official.
The Tuesday meeting, July 28 (six Mordad), was the first meeting between Netanyahu and Trump since the outbreak of the war on February 28. The session was held while Trump was still working to reach an agreement with Iran, but at the same time was also considering a return to broad military operations.
A few hours after the meeting, Iran for the first time since the U.S. halted its attacks on Iran on Friday, July 26, targeted a U.S. base in Jordan with a missile attack.
On Wednesday, July 29, Trump, in an interview with Fox News, promised that he would give a “serious response” to the attack. This surprising Iranian strike could push the U.S. president toward a full escalation of the conflict.
According to an Israeli official, Netanyahu is waiting for Trump’s decision, but has emphasized to him that if Iran attacks Israel, Israel’s response will be immediate and extremely severe.
According to this Israeli official, Iran was the main focus of the 90-minute conversation between Trump and Netanyahu. He said they discussed the three options that Trump has in mind for subsequent actions.
