Videos published on social media indicate preparations in Aliakhani Square in Isfahan for the execution of a sentence in public. The videos show iron scaffolding that has been installed, and given the deployment of security forces around it, concern has increased about the public execution of several protesters from the Dey protests. Some families of those sentenced to death in the so-called “Aliakhani Square” case have been informed to go to Isfahan Central Prison for their final visit. The case involves 12 defendants sentenced to death. A source close to the family of Amirehsin Safary, one of the defendants in this case, told Iran International that his family has been called to the prison for a final meeting. Abolfazl Sepahi and Alireza Sepahi—two other detainees from the Dey protests who have also been sentenced to death—are also facing the imminent execution of their sentence. Golmohammad Mohammadi and Erfan Esfandiyari were executed last week in connection with this case. The Aliakhani Square case in Isfahan is related to the protests in this city on December 18. Iranian officials say that during the clashes in this area, four members of the Basij and special units were killed.
