Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, said in a meeting with Steve Witkoff, the United States’ special envoy, that Moscow is ready to help resolve the crisis surrounding Iran.
Pointing to Russia’s “special and trust-based” relations with the Islamic Republic, which have been formed over decades, Putin said Moscow has proposals to resolve the crisis and is willing to discuss the situation in the Middle East. He also raised the possibility of holding a meeting in China.
Witkoff also thanked Putin for lifting restrictions on the export of Russian diesel and said the move has helped reduce the global shortage of diesel fuel.
Witkoff added that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, is “deeply grateful” for this Russian action.
