🔻US Democratic leaders have announced their three main priorities for the upcoming Congress: reducing the cost-of-living burden, holding the government accountable, and ending the war with Iran.
Chuck Schumer and Hakim Jeffries, who are expected to respectively take up leadership of the Democrats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, said they would stand up against Donald Trump, the U.S. president, when necessary.
They promised that Congress would no longer be an institution entirely subordinate to the Trump administration.
In contrast, Republicans are coming to terms with one of their heaviest electoral defeats and are thinking about the future of the party after the end of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Some of Trump’s closest allies—especially JD Vance, the U.S. vice president—are beginning to distance themselves from him.
The results of this election have also raised the possibility that the United States may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the “MAGA” movement (“Make America Great Again”). 📸Getty images
