The US defense minister rejected CNN’s report about a dangerous reduction in this country’s missile defense stockpiles.

Pete Hegseth wrote on X on Tuesday: “That caption is not right, CNN. Shame on you. We’re not as hateful of liar news media text as you.”

CNN, citing informed sources, reported that the US Army has used nearly 80% of the interceptors of the THAAD system and about half of its Patriot interceptors since the start of the war with the Islamic Republic, and senior commanders warned that the stockpiles are “dangerously low.”

Based on the same report, this concern played a role in Donald Trump’s decision, the US president, to suspend attacks over the weekend.

Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesperson, said the US Army has everything it needs to carry out what the president wants, at the time and place he has in mind.
