US authorities have repeatedly used SpaceX for foreign policy goals, Reuters reported, citing sources.

Specifically, in 2023 and 2024, the Biden administration asked the company to block pro-Iranian forces in Yemen and Lebanon from using the Starlink satellite network, while in 2022, it requested expanded Starlink access for the Ukrainian military.

“The Biden-era and Trump requests to Musk show a close relationship in which US administrations rely to an unprecedented degree on a private-sector company to help implement foreign policy,” the agency noted.
