The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that since the beginning of August, more than 281,000 people have been displaced due to the intensification of fighting between Yemen’s government forces and the Houthis.

The agency warned that three quarters of the displaced are facing a lack of shelter, safe water, and health services, and that more than 230,000 people need emergency assistance.

The UN Population Fund has warned about an increased risk of sexual violence, human trafficking, and forced marriage, especially in overcrowded locations where displaced people are housed.

The UN also said that damage to communication routes and attacks on medical centers have made it more difficult to deliver aid to displaced people.
