UK police have detained several people near the “RAF Fairford” airbase on suspicion of committing crimes related to explosives.

At the same time, British Army bomb disposal forces were deployed on site, and in the wake of the incident, which the police described as a “major incident,” several homes were also evacuated. Aerial images show the extensive presence of police and emergency personnel, and a bomb disposal robot near three van vehicles.

The base had previously been used, with approval from the UK government, for US attacks on Iranian missile sites that targeted ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
