🔻U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Washington has reached an agreement with Venezuela, which he said is “the biggest oil deal in the history of the world.”

Trump said that following negotiations with the interim government of Venezuela and with the participation of the private sector, the United States has gained control of more than half of the country’s 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.

He said the deal was carried out at no cost to American taxpayers and would more than double the United States’ oil reserves.

The U.S. president also claimed that the agreement would significantly increase oil supply and, in the long term, help lower gasoline prices in the United States.

Trump said that Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, worked with Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, on these negotiations.

He added that the agreement will further strengthen U.S.-Venezuela relations.
