🔶Trump: We are not negotiating with Iran; the full blockade remains in place
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said on Tuesday, August 18, that there is no dialogue with Iran taking place and that no plan for it has been set, adding that the Strait of Hormuz is open.
Trump wrote in a post on the social network "Truth Social": "There is no negotiation or dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran taking place, and no plan for it has been arranged. The maritime blockade is in place with full force, and its impact remains. The Strait of Hormuz is open and active. All sea mines have been collected or detonated."
This comes as Jared Kushner, an senior adviser and son-in-law of Donald Trump, announced on Monday: "We have had positive and active talks with Iran."
Speaking with Fox News, he added that U.S. negotiations with different parts of the Iranian government have become more serious and extensive than at any other time, but have not yet led to an agreement.
