🔶Qatar says Iran is not cooperating in determining the fate of three missing pilots

Qatar says it has invited Iran to send a technical team to examine the search operation for three missing Iranian pilots, but it has received no response.

Tehran continues to claim that the three pilots who went missing after their aircraft entered Qatar’s airspace in early Esfand, during the start of the 40-day war and after its downing, are still in this country.

Majed Al Ansari, the spokesperson of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in Doha on Tuesday, August 18: “The body of one pilot has been returned and a funeral ceremony has been held.” He added that Iran has not responded to Qatar’s invitation to send a technical team to review the search operations.

Earlier, an Iranian military official accused Qatar of preventing the entry of a fact-finding team into the country and asked the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene.

Qatar rejected this account and said that its invitation still stands.

Al Ansari said: “We are here and our doors are open. There is no need for media speculation about this.”
