🔻Trump: For now, we don’t have a plan for a new attack on Iran
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said that Washington does not currently have an immediate plan to attack Iran. At the same time, he downplayed speculation about his administration’s readiness to intensify its confrontation with the Islamic Republic after the midterm elections.
On Tuesday, Mr. Trump, in an interview with the Financial Times, said that he is satisfied with the state of the standoff with Iran; even as he also indicated that, if necessary, he is prepared to continue the war.
In the six-minute phone interview, he said: “It appears that we are getting whatever it is that we want.”
Meanwhile, concerns about the possibility of a new military attack on Iran immediately after the U.S. elections continue—especially after Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran is not satisfied with Washington’s response to this country’s proposal.
The phone call between the foreign ministers of Egypt and Iran on Tuesday, during which Badr Abdelatty asked for greater flexibility from Tehran in the negotiations, is another sign of this concern.
