The Wall Street Journal, in a report, wrote that internet-connected surveillance cameras, which are designed to provide security, with the help of artificial intelligence can be used to monitor military movements, identify targets, and assist attacks.

Mehdi Sarrami-Far, a science and technology journalist, said that during Israel and the United States’ attacks on the Islamic Republic, city cameras played a role similar to pagers in Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah; a seemingly civilian tool that, through data analysis, became part of intelligence and military operations. He added that limiting or cutting the internet, unlike improving security standards, can further increase the vulnerability of infrastructure and does not necessarily stop cyber operations.
