While police in Sistan and Baluchestan have denied an armed attack on a police post in Rask, videos released by an armed group indicate that such an attack took place; a claim that has not yet been independently verified.

Mehdi Nakhl Ahmadi, a journalist and political activist, said that despite the Islamic Republic’s statements about large-scale drills and operations in Sistan and Baluchestan, attacks against forces and government positions continue. According to Nakhl Ahmadi, the government, in order to justify its failure to control the situation, has turned to security-related narrative-making and to attributing the detainees and executed individuals to armed groups.
