The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the attack on the evening of Friday, 23 Mordad against a ship affiliated with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the Strait of Hormuz was carried out by the Islamic Republic.
The ministry called the attack “hostile” and strongly condemned it.
In the statement, it said: “Targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool to exert economic pressure or extort money is maritime piracy by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and is a direct threat to the stability of the region, its people, and global energy security.”
The UAE also asked the Islamic Republic to stop what it called “unprovoked attacks” and to remain committed to the immediate cessation of all hostilities.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called for the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and said this action is necessary to protect regional security and to maintain stability in the economy and global trade.
