The U.S. government announced on Thursday, the 7th of Aban, that oil companies have agreed to borrow about 40 million barrels of crude oil from the United States’ strategic petroleum reserves. This is the latest installment of the U.S. share in a global agreement to curb fuel prices following the start of the United States and Israel’s war against the Islamic Republic.

The U.S. Department of Energy reported that on the 6th of Aban, nearly 16.8 million barrels were transferred to Gunvor, Trafigura, Phillips 66, and Vitol. Earlier, on the 21st of Mehr, 23.8 million barrels were delivered to Exxon Mobil, Atlantic Trading, and Macquarie.

In Esfand of last year, the United States agreed to lend 172 million barrels, part of an agreement with about 30 member countries of the International Energy Agency to release 400 million barrels.

Heavy reliance on these reserves has partly limited its ability to calm the market.
