The Federal Security Service of Russia announced that a Japanese journalist was detained on charges of collecting military information for Japan’s intelligence service.

The case has increased tensions between Moscow and Tokyo and raised concerns about the security of foreign journalists in Russia. The allegation has not yet been proven in court.
