The European Union welcomed the adoption of a law abolishing the death penalty in Lebanon and called it an important step in support of human rights. Kaya Kallas, the EU’s foreign affairs policy chief, said that abolishing the punishment for all crimes, including sentences handed down earlier, is a sign of Lebanon’s commitment to the right to life.
