The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran said on Tuesday, September 17, at the Board of Governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency that the Agency is responsible for “the unlawful attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities under safeguards” and for the consequences of these attacks for nuclear security.
The delegation of the Islamic Republic said: “What does nuclear security mean if no action is taken against unlawful attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities under safeguards?”
The delegation also said: “If the Agency does not have the ability or willingness to give sufficient attention to the consequences for nuclear security, on what basis should member countries trust its performance and effectiveness?”
The delegation of the Islamic Republic also announced: “A breach of confidentiality in the past has led to the disclosure of sensitive information, and this information has been misused to facilitate sabotage operations against nuclear facilities under safeguards.”
