🔻South Korean police reported on Thursday that they carried out a search of the office of the football federation of this country, as part of investigations related to the case of the selection of Hong Myung-bo, the former head coach of the national team.

🔹A police spokesperson, in an interview with Agence France-Presse, confirmed that police officers, after entering the federation’s headquarters, carried out “a search and the seizure of documents.” The investigations are underway in connection with the possibility of “obstruction and misconduct in administrative procedures” during the hiring of Hong Myung-bo, the national team head coach who had resigned.

🔹The South Korea national team, which had a disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup and was eliminated from the competition after earning only 3 points in the group stage, faced severe criticism. Following this early exit in the first round of the World Cup, Hong Myung-bo resigned from his position in late June.

🔹Now, with the entry of judicial and police authorities into this case, the South Korean football federation is facing a serious crisis regarding transparency in management decision-making and the appointment of the coaching staff.
