🔻Sharp increase in the price of jet fuel due to the war with Iran is putting airline companies under higher costs. At the same time, many of these companies are seeking to increase their revenue by investing in luxury seats, special services, and dedicated airport lounges.
According to Agence France-Presse, American airlines are gradually allocating more of their aircraft space to passengers who are willing to pay more for better amenities.
As an aviation economics professor at Purdue University in the U.S. state of Indiana said, business class seats may take up as much space as four regular seats, but their prices are five to six times higher.
American Airlines has said that revenue from its premium services increased by 18.5% in the most recent quarter. The company now earns about half of its ticket sales revenue from just 30% of its seats.
