Shahram Khaldi, a researcher on the history of the Middle East and international relations, said that referring to Israel’s shift in approach toward Hezbollah, military attacks alone are not enough to change the situation of this group, and that the United States and Israel now want to put pressure on the Lebanese government and army in order to disarm Hezbollah.

According to him, public dissatisfaction in Lebanon with Hezbollah’s performance has provided an opportunity to advance this goal. Khaldi emphasized that Israel has concluded that to remove Hezbollah from the scene, Lebanese society must also play a role in this process.
