Shahir Shahid Thaleth, an analyst of international relations and Iran-related issues, said that the increase in energy prices and the cost of living as a result of the war with Iran were among the main factors behind voters’ dissatisfaction and the Republicans’ defeat in the U.S. congressional elections. According to him, the election results also point to the emergence of broader changes in the political landscape of the United States.

Shahid Thaleth added that the Democrats’ victory in Congress could limit Donald Trump’s ability to continue the war with the Islamic Republic. He emphasized that Congress, by using its budgetary powers, can put pressure on the government’s military decisions, and that the president’s right of veto would not completely eliminate these limits.
