The Aid Workers Security database recorded 907 attacks on humanitarian workers in 2025, the highest figure since the start of this data collection in 1997.

The figure shows a striking jump compared with 599 major attacks in 2024. That year itself also saw a sharp increase compared with 420 attacks in 2023.

Based on these figures, published alongside World Humanitarian Day, Gaza was the deadliest place for aid workers and Sudan ranked second.
