Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said in reposting a Treasury Department post about sanctions targeting the Islamic Republic’s shadow fleet that Washington is seeking to deprive the Tehran government of financial resources used for fighting in the region and will continue working to identify those facilitating the sale of Islamic Republic oil.

Bessent said: “None of the facilitators of circumventing Iran sanctions will be spared from the full capacity of the Treasury Department’s authorities.”

In a post that Bessent reposted, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that fresh sanctions, as part of the “Economic Exclusion Operation,” target the remaining shadow fleet and, according to the ministry, have effectively rendered much of the remaining network of this fleet inoperative.
