🔶 Russian Foreign Minister arrives in Tehran

Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, arrived in Tehran on Monday, 27 Mehr (October 19) for the first time since the start of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran in late February.

In this regard, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on Sunday, October 18, that the trip would take place amid a deadlock in peace negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic.

Moscow described the purpose of Lavrov’s trip as “preventing a return to a large-scale war.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that in his talks in Tehran, Lavrov will focus on “ways to resolve the current crisis”; a crisis for which Moscow holds the United States and Israel responsible for initiating it.

In the ministry’s statement, the attacks by the United States and Israel are described as “illegal aggression,” adding that Iran’s war has harmed not only stability and security in the Middle East, but also global security.
