Russia targeted a cargo ship flying the flag of Liberia at one of Ukraine’s ports in the Black Sea, killing one person and injuring three.

According to Reuters, Ukraine’s maritime ports authority said on its Telegram channel that 13 other crew members of this ship had been transferred to a safe location. The attack took place in Odesa Oblast.

Russia has effectively resumed its blockade of Ukraine’s ports in the Black Sea since summer and disrupted shipping routes. The blockade has reduced exports of grain and steel and dealt a severe blow to Ukraine’s economy.

In the early hours of Saturday, Russia’s Ministry of Defense had said its forces had targeted a cargo ship en route to the port of Odesa.

Russia’s war in Ukraine is in its fifth year.
