The Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic announced that it has identified and arrested four networks comprising 31 people in Sirjan County in Kerman Province.
The Ministry of Intelligence described the detainees as “agents of the American-Zionist enemy” and claimed that these individuals had been organized in networks under “attractive names for teenagers and young people,” and had set out specific plans for active participation in nationwide calls.
The Ministry of Intelligence also claimed that during the protests in the previous December—what the ministry calls a “coup”—they set fire to the governor’s office, and destroyed banks, government offices, and city cameras, and attacked the police headquarters in an effort to obtain weapons.
No evidence has been published for these claims, and there is no information available about the identity of the detainees, where they are being held, or their access to a lawyer.
