🔻Reuters: Iran has plans to target submarine communication cables in the Persian Gulf

Two senior Iranian security officials told Reuters that Tehran has drawn up detailed plans to target submarine communication cables in the Persian Gulf, which could be carried out if the United States and Israel launch another attack on Iran.

The two officials, who asked not to be named, did not provide details about the locations or how the attacks might be carried out, but one of them said that Iran may also act to prevent repairs of damaged cables so that disruptions to communications, including the internet, last longer.

One of these officials warned that, if Iran is attacked again, “there will be no more red lines,” and that possible targets would range from submarine cables to military bases, including secret bases.

Reuters says the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. State Department have not responded to the news agency’s requests for comment on these statements.
