Reuters, citing two sources, reported: “Hezbollah received $200 million from the Islamic Republic last month in order to provide financial aid to families displaced by this year’s war with Israel.”
According to these sources, Hezbollah plans to pay $3,000 to each family in the first stage, with priority given to people whose villages have been destroyed or who cannot return because of the presence of Israeli forces. One of the sources said the number of these families is about 50,000.
The money reached Hezbollah at a time when US sanctions and economic pressure on the Islamic Republic have intensified, making it more difficult to transfer financial resources to the group.
Reuters sources said that intermediaries for transferring the money took a 20% commission, which, according to one of them, is four times the usual rate.
A Hezbollah official, in response to Reuters, confirmed that financial resources for assisting displaced people have been secured and that the distribution program will be announced in the coming days, but did not explain the source of the money. Tehran also did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
