Leila Mahdavi, the grieving mother of Saiaosh Mahmoudi, one of those killed in the 2021 protests, published a video at the grave of her son on the occasion of her own birthday and wrote: “I do not congratulate myself on this birthday; I congratulate the mother who, despite the greatest pain of her life, is still breathing, still hopeful, and still standing for Saiaosh.”
