🔻The prosecutor in Azna says he has arrested a person on charges of “organizing the unrest of last December”

🔻Iranian news agencies, citing the public and revolutionary prosecutor of Azna County—in the west of Iran’s Lorestan province—have reported the arrest of a person whom he says was “among the organizers of the unrest of last December” in Iran.

According to these reports, the prosecutor in Azna said that “the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, in cooperation with other local intelligence institutions, after months of monitoring and surveillance, identified this person and arrested him in a surprise operation.”

In these reports, no name of the detained person has been mentioned, his official charges have not been specified, and the exact date of the arrest and where he is being held have also not been announced.

During the protests in Azna city last December, protesters lit a large fire in front of the central police station, and Iranian media subsequently reported the deaths of at least three people during the clashes. While in Thursday’s news, Iranian media did not state any connection between this incident and the detained person.

Thousands of protesters were killed and injured in the bloody crackdowns of those protests across hundreds of cities in Iran.
