🔻 President of the European Council, in a meeting with Pezeshkian, called for “stopping Iran’s attacks on its neighbors” and “opening the Strait of Hormuz”

Antonio Costa, the President of the European Council, said that in his meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, in New York, he called for “stopping Iran’s attacks against its neighbors and establishing full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Mr. Costa wrote in a post on the X social network that he had a “frank and substantial” conversation with the Iranian president and that in this meeting “I emphasized that dialogue is the only solution to disputes and guarantees lasting peace throughout the region.”

He said he also asked Iran “to resume its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

The President of the European Council emphasized that “the European Union is ready to support all diplomatic efforts” to achieve these goals.
