Oil prices on 4 Aban, after last week’s jump close to the highest level in six months, fell on hopes that tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic would ease.

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) December futures fell by $2.23, or 2.16%, to $101.04 per barrel. Brent fell by $2.21, or 1.89%, to $114.51 per barrel.

The continued attacks on Saudi Arabia, a key producer, kept investors cautious.

On 1 Aban, oil prices closed more than $3 higher after Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia and concerns about near-term energy supply. Brent finished the week 6% higher and WTI 2.3 tenths of a percent higher.

An informed official told Reuters that Qatari mediators have gone to Tehran to reduce tensions on Sunday.
