🔸Mustafa Nili, the lawyer of Benjamin Nacdi, a protester of Dey (December), announced that Branch 41 of the Supreme Court has upheld his client’s death sentence, which had been issued by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz on the charge of “waging corruption on earth.”

🔸According to Mr. Nili, the verdict was communicated to the case lawyers yesterday, and they will soon file a request for retrial. He expressed hope that, given that “no harm has been done to anyone,” the request will be granted and a possibility will be provided for the case to be heard again by a branch of equal status.

🔸Benjamin Nacdi was arrested in Shiraz on 13 Dey (December) of last year on the charge of “lighting a gas cylinder.” He was initially accused of “attempted murder,” and later of “enmity against God,” but the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz ultimately found all the charges raised to constitute “waging corruption on earth” and issued a death sentence.

🔸Amnesty International on the second of Mordad called for the immediate suspension of the execution of this sentence and said it was concerned about the broadcast of his “confessions” before his trial and the possibility that they were obtained under torture and ill-treatment.
