🔻Muqtada al-Sadr asked the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iraqi armed groups not to turn Iraqi soil into a battlefield

Muqtada al-Sadr, the influential Shiite cleric in Iraq, in a statement asked the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps not to target Iraqi territory, and at the same time asked Iraqi armed groups not to give Gulf Arab countries an excuse to attack Iraq.

He wrote on the X network that if Iraq was not the origin of attacks on the Islamic Republic, then the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps should also not target “independent and sacred Iraqi land.”

Muqtada al-Sadr also condemned the actions of armed groups that, according to him, are trying to pull Iraq into an unnecessary war, and asked the Iraqi government to establish security, exercise the country’s sovereignty, and protect the lives of the people and sacred places.

He went on to warn that terrorist groups may use sectarian tensions to destabilize Iraq, and called on all neighboring countries to calm and engage in dialogue.
